Gunflint Trail 2011 - Part 3

Day Two Continued:

After Gooseberry Falls and Temerpence River State Parks, we continued north to Grand Marais, MN.  I had never been that far north along the lake.  We stopped for a few groceries (beer, etc.) and turned onto the Gunflint Trail.

The road is beautiful and fun to ride.  Here's a bunch of photos taken while riding.  You can see lots of trees, a few lakes, some fire damage from a few years ago, sweeping curves, and elevation changes.

We arrived at our destination, Tuscarora Lodge and Outfitters.  We had a cabin booked for 3 nights.

The lodge is situated on Round Lake.  They had docks and small boats available.  Tuscarora specializes in outfitting people for canoe trips into the Boundary Waters Canoe Area (BWCA) but we were there for a more relaxing trip.

After getting settled in the cabin, we headed back east along the Gunflint for food.

We ate dinner at the Trail Center Lodge and Restaurant.

More pics to come...
